Hierarchical content routing in large-scale multimedia content delivery network
نویسندگان
چکیده
Content Delivery Network (CDN) is an intermediate layer of infrastructure that helps to efficiently deliver the ever increasing multimedia content from content providers to a large community of geographically distributed clients. Content routing is an essential component of CDN architecture. In this paper we propose a hierarchical content routing architecture for large-scale CDN, in which CDN servers perform intracluster and inter-cluster content routing based on a two-level hierarchical overlay network. We analyze the routing overhead and the corresponding CDN performance of different intracluster content routing schemes. In particular, we propose a semi-hashing based scheme for intra-cluster content routing and a content-query based scheme for inter-cluster content routing. Through qualitative analysis and simulations we show that the semi-hashing based scheme is scalable (small routing overhead), efficient (high content sharing efficiency), and flexible (adjustable parameters).

Video Delivery on Content Networks
Behaviors of Internet services are changing from computation sharing to content sharing. Due to these changes, the weakness of conventional network architecture and its inadequate in service support are apparent. To resolve these problems, content networks are introduced. A content network tries to reorganize the Internet by a content-centric way to improve the system's scalability and to prote...

متن کاملActiveCDN: Cloud Computing Meets Content Delivery Networks
Content delivery networks play a crucial role in today’s Internet. They serve a large portion of the multimedia on the Internet and solve problems of scalability and indirectly network congestion (at a price). However, most content delivery networks rely on a statically deployed configuration of nodes and network topology that makes it hard to grow and scale dynamically. We present ActiveCDN, a...
متن کاملAn Efficient Hierarchical Modulation based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Transmission Scheme for Digital Video Broadcasting
Due to the increase of users the efficient usage of spectrum plays an important role in digital terrestrial television networks. In digital video broadcasting, local and global content are transmitted by single frequency network and multifrequency network respectively. Multifrequency network support transmission of global content and it consumes large spectrum. Similarly local content are well ...
متن کاملOn predictable large-scale data delivery in prefix-based virtualized content networks
IPTV, software replication, and other large scale content distribution services raise the need for fast and efficient content delivery mechanisms in underlay as well as overlay networks. Multicast, the natural approach on the network layer, has not been deployed globally, and solutions are pushed to the application layer. For a flexible, sustainable deployment the distribution mechanisms in use...
